Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Hey guys, the cows have been moved off temporarily. I think three of them will be returning soon. I'll keep you posted!

    Tues 12th - All well

All 7 seen and well in the centre of the site. Still water flowing in the stream coming into the site under the trees near W3W contact.cringes.wobbles

    Back in the SW corner

As last Tuesday we found them all in the shade of the trees in the SW corner of the site (B6) at 0945 this morning.  I wondered if they might have left the site already after yesterday's display by the Black Eagles. They all seemed well, but pestered by many flies, and were all happily chewing the cud.  I suspect they will be glad to see a cleaner supply of water once they are off as the pond is rapidly becoming a mud bath.

    Sunday 10th July - All 7 seen

The seven cows were all together in the area around ///riskiest.subplot.piano at 08:45 this morning.  They were happily grazing and enjoying their breakfast in the sunshine.

Thank you for the early notification that the cows will leave the site and go on their summer holidays.  It was nice to spend some extra time with them today before they go.

All seven cows were good this morning.

    Saturday

Found them up by the gate to the test track section at 12.00. Looking fine.

    Thursday, 7 July 2022

Thursday 7th July All 7 found.

All 7 found in the farthest corner from the truck in F4. They then, very dutifully,  followed me all the way back to where I'd parked at C4. Feeling bad for them, I gave them a few nuts and left them to it! All seem well and healthy, I checked the stream during my searching and it's still flowing and full so water on site isn't a worry yet.

Cattle due to go off soon due to Airshow

     Hello

Just to let you all know that we intend to remove the Long Valley herd hopefully this week due to the Airshow. We understand that LV will be within the "exclusion zone" where public access will be restricted from approximately the 11th July - 24th July. Given the exclusion zone and that some local roads will be closed we thought it prudent for the cows welfare to move them just in case there was an incident and during this period it will be difficult to check them.

Some will go to Pondtail and others to the Hatch. We plan that they will return to LV sometime after the Airshow.

    Thanks

    Standing in the Shadows

All seven were in the shade this morning, as Gordon last saw them, chewing the cud tucked up in the far SW corner of the site (B6). They all appear healthy (not troubled by so many flies this morning) and, as ever, pleased to see a visitor.

    Sunday 3rd July - All 7 seen

All seven cows were found at ///polka.headless.enabling at 12:55 this afternoon.  Despite being in the trees and hiding in the shade, they were still being bothered by a large number of flies.  Most of the cows were stood chewing their cud, but a couple were lying down relaxing.

All the cows were good today.

    Saturday

Found them all at 8.30 at the western end of the site beyond the corral. All grazing quietly and a couple raised their heads to acknowledge me and then went back to doing what they do best.

Wednesday 20th august- all 3 seen

3 ponies happy and well eating grass. Cooler today so no flies. Smallest mare has a big horsefly bite by her withers, but bothered by it. wa...
