    Friday 31st March - All 8 seen

Despite the rain showers, seven of the ponies were standing out in the open in the area around ///faced.toads.giggled at 11:40 this morning. They were all looking well and very relaxed. The eighth was having none of it, and was quite happy standing under the cover of some nearby trees. The ponies were all good today.

    Wednesday 29th March - All 8 seen

A group of four ponies was busy grazing in the area around ///clustered.punk.thigh at 14:10 this afternoon.  That area is quite swampy, but that wasn't putting them off.

The other four were fairly close by in the area around ///hydrant.boils.chief.  They were all enjoying holly from the many bushes in that area.

The eight ponies had come together by 14:45 and were continuing to explore the area where the second four were found.

The ponies were all good today.

The contractors equipment was safe and sound when I left site today.

    Ponies looking fine today

Saw all 8 ponies and they are looking fine. Saw Grace & Lottie removing the 3 Brit White back to the farm.

We have a contractor in Brocks Hill today & tomorrow doing some heath scrapes: removing the mat of mulched gorse and creating bare sand which will benefit solitary bees and wasps and be ideal for gemination of heather and other desirable heathland plants.

    Sunday 26th March - All 11 seen

The eight ponies were all found grazing in the area around ///restores.deep.tribes at 14:05 this afternoon.  They were all rather wet but were relaxed and eating away happily.

After an extensive search, including wading out to the waterlogged north-east corner of the site, the cows were found in the far south-west corner at 15:10.  They must have made their way there when I was looking for them, as I'd looked there before with no luck.   They, too, were wet and were standing half under the cover of some holly bushes, pre-empting the next rain shower.  After a while, cows 215 and 234 lay down to relax.  Cow 214 continued to stand and chew her cud.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.

    Friday, 24 March 2023

    Friday 24th March - All 11 seen

The cows were all found in the south-west corner of the site at 13:10 this afternoon.  Cows 214 and 215 were out in the open munching on grass and gorse.  Cow 234 was initially found buried deep in a gorse bush close by, but soon came out and wandered over to find the other two.

The ponies were all found in the area around ///outlooks.scales.legs twenty minutes later.  They all seemed very relaxed and were happily munching away.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.

Thursday 23rd of March - All found Moving & Pony Information

    Hi All,

Found all 8 ponies and three cattle by the cattle grid in the middle of the site.

We've been informed that the ponies have been fed by members of the public so we have put up notices asking people not to do so. (Extra feeding can cause colic which is likely to lead to death). We've had our posters taken down from putting them up on Monday, so please check they are still there if you can. They are on every entrance into the site.

Everyone looks good. Just to inform you that we will be taking the 3 British White Cattle off Longvalley either this week or next.

They have lost condition so we will be bringing them back to the barn to feed them up over winter.

I'll let you know when we remove them.

    Thanks very much!

    Grace
    Grazing Team.

    Wednesday 22nd March - All 11 seen

The cows were standing beside the corral at 14:00 this afternoon.   They were relaxing and chewing their cud.

The ponies were found in the area around ///hawks.leans.monday a short while later.  They were all nice and relaxed and happily eating.

The cows wandered down to the same area at 14:30 and started to munch on gorse from the nearby bushes.  The ponies continued to graze the area for a good while before moving over to the other side of the main path.

Many thanks for putting up the additional signage.  Hopefully it will prevent any reoccurrence of people feeding the ponies.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.

    Wednesday 22nd March

Popped in to check on the livestock this morning. All 11 found and all looking good.

    Monday, 20 March 2023

    Monday 20th March

All 11 animals found and checked today.

The 3 cows were waiting for me by the gate as I arrived to put a new "Don't feed the ponies" sign out. Then found all 8 of the ponies on the other side of the hill. No issues to report, all seem well.

    Ponies

     Hello all,

It appears that some people have started feeding the ponies, which is really bad news. Any artificial food stuffs can cause colic and serious illness to them.

We will put out further signage which is more explicit asking that people do not under any circumstances feed them. Hopefully this will help.

Thanks for your help with the lookering.

    Sunday 19th March - All 11 seen

The ponies were found grazing in the area around ///brick.observers.courage at 12:05 this afternoon.  They were all busy munching on gorse.  After a short while, five wandered over to the side of the main path, where they started to relax.  The white pony did the same halfway up Brock's Hill.  The other two continued to graze happily.

Cow 234 was found standing, relaxing in the area around ///baseless.incline.deeply twenty minutes later.  The other two were grazing close by, nearer the racecourse fence line.  They seemed to be enjoying eating holly leaves today.

By 12:50 cows 214 and 215 had joined cow 234, and they were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.
