Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

The ponies were happily grazing near the corral at 14:10 this afternoon. Tilly noticed me coming and wandered over to meet me by the main path. She was very affectionate, greeting me with gentle nuzzles before enjoying a long neck and ear rub. After a good ten minutes, the other ponies grew impatient, so I went over to say hello. They were all very friendly, taking turns to approach for strokes. The foal especially enjoyed his usual neck rub and rewarded me with plenty of cuddles. Poppy hung back to spend some quiet time with me, happily relaxing as I stroked under her chin and along the sides of her neck.

After a while, the ponies moved onto the main path and began grazing on the gorse bushes along both sides. The foal stayed close, preferring a back rub while nibbling on grass. He seems to have grown taller every time I see him just now! After grazing for a while, he took a break to enjoy another long neck rub before playing his favourite game of pulling my hood over my head. He seemed to be having a lot of fun.

The ponies continued grazing near the path, but frequently came over for company and more strokes. They were all happy, relaxed, and looking really well. Unfortunately, it began to rain around 15:40, prompting me to say my goodbyes. A short time later, as I was leaving, the ponies wandered off along the track to the west of Brock's Hill, hopefully going to find some shelter.

The ponies were all good today.
