Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 12th January - All 7 seen

The ponies were happily grazing together in the pasture near ///model.thumb.lure, southeast of Brock's Hill, at 13:50 this afternoon. They were very friendly, approaching one by one to greet me and enjoy some strokes. The two newcomers also came over to say hello and happily accepted strokes. It was wonderful to see that they had settled in well.

After our greetings, the ponies resumed grazing but stayed close by, frequently returning for more strokes and rubs. Tilly, after enjoying a long neck and ear rub, wandered out to the main path to munch on gorse, while the others remained in the pasture, enjoying the long grass, heather, and gorse. The ponies took turns spending time with me, appearing to thoroughly enjoy the attention. At one point, several ponies lined up along the side of the main path, patiently waiting for strokes. They were all happy, relaxed, and in excellent condition.

The darker of the two newcomers was initially a little shy, but soon enjoyed a really long neck rub before rewarding me with gentle nuzzles. It was lovely to spend some peaceful time with the group this afternoon.

The Gelvert Stream was flowing well, and I broke the ice on numerous puddles in the area to ensure the ponies had access to plenty of drinking water. However, Tilly seemed interested in the large pool of water on the north side of the path. I noticed her pawing at the ice, so went over to investigate. As soon as I broke the ice and removed the chunks, she took a long, refreshing drink.

The ponies continued to alternate between grazing in the pasture and coming over for further strokes and rubs. I said my goodbyes at 16:15 as they continued grazing, gradually moving west as darkness fell.

The ponies were all good today.
