Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 1st December - All 6 seen

The ponies were grazing in the southwest corner at 14:10 this afternoon, soaked from the earlier rain. When the sun briefly appeared, they began to dry off. Despite being wet, they were very friendly, approaching one by one to say hello and enjoy some strokes. The foal eagerly came over for his usual neck rub and, although still damp, insisted on giving lots of affectionate cuddles. All the ponies seemed happy and relaxed.

The ponies continued grazing, enjoying plenty of grass with the occasional nibble of gorse. They frequently returned for more strokes, appearing to enjoy having their backs ruffled, which helped them dry off. Several gave themselves a good shake afterwards. The foal returned for another neck rub and happily accepted a long back rub while grazing.

After a while, the ponies moved out to the main path and began grazing among the gorse bushes. A few took the opportunity to roll around in the muddy ground at the foot of Brock's Hill. While they were busy, I collected broken glass and fragments of white china from near where they had been grazing earlier. I also unearthed a few miniature spirit bottles that were emerging from the ground. Pandora stayed by my side the entire time, enjoying plenty of strokes once I finished.

The bay coloured pony's right eye was looking much better today, suggesting she's on the road to recovery.

I said goodbye to the ponies just after 16:00. Most had gathered by the main path, while Poppy and Megan continued grazing in the gorse bushes, but briefly emerged so I could say farewell. As I walked toward the cattle grid, the group followed for a bit, hoping to persuade me to stay longer, but I had to leave as it was getting dark.

The ponies were all good today.
