    Friday 30th June - All 7 seen

The cows were all grazing in the area around ///stuffy.vies.thud at 15:40 this afternoon.  They were all happily munching on long grass.  All four were very relaxed and looking well.

The ponies were found in the north-east corner around ///danger.rolled.hinted an hour later.  They, too, were munching away and were doing a bit of hill climbing.  They were all happy and relaxed and came over to say hello.

The cows wandered past the ponies while they were still grazing at 17:00 and gathered around ///challenge.civil.sports.  They were initially all standing and chewing their cud before they started to lie down and relax.  The ponies wandered over in their direction about fifteen minutes later and started to rest as well, with one pony lying down.  This caused the cows to get up and watch the ponies with great interest.   Cow 227 was particularly curious about his equine friends, and he slowly edged closer and closer to the lying down pony.  However, after a short while, he got bored and wandered off and lay down beside the three girls.

There was still plenty of water in the pond, and there was still water pooled at the hydrant sign.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.

    Cows 4 - Ponies 0

The cows were hunkered down close to the water around the hydrant sign at the north west corner of the site.  They were snoozing but they all looked fit and well.  I walked around the site but was unable to spot the ponies.  The Gelvert has stopped flowing but the pond still contains water and the water where the cows were resting could be seen flowing.

    Monday 26th June - All 7 seen

Just as I was walking down Brock's Hill, the ponies came wandering around the corner to meet me at 16:15 this afternoon.  They all wandered over to say hello and seemed a lot happier in the cooler conditions.   The ponies were happy to stand and relax at the bottom of Brock's Hill.   After a good 15 minutes, one decided to start munching on grass.   I've taken some additional photos of the ponies nose/mouths and will email them over to HIWWT just to check they are all OK.

The cows had quickly reacquainted themselves with the Brock's Hill side of the site and were all happily munching away in the area around ///rats.fights.magic at 17:00.  Surprisingly, despite all the sun, the area they were in was still quite swampy, and they all had muddy feet.  All four were looking fit and healthy.

As I was leaving the site at 17:25, all three ponies were grazing in the area around ///trickled.rice.corrode.

The cows and the ponies were good today.

Monday 26th June - 3 cows moved back into Brox Hill compartment

    Hi All,

After being alerted to low water levels on the Longvalley Test track compartment by our looker Gordon. We've moved the cows over to the main Brox Hill compartment.

There's two water sources one is fed by a spring that comes into the forest on the upper left hand corner of this compartment.
     ///investors.inspected.dock

The other is a small pond by the entrance on to test track on the right. Please keep an eye on these water sources as there is no trough, we are relying on these for water. (The lack of rain isn't helping replenish these supply's!)

We may move the cows off later in the week to prioritise the water for the ponies.

We'll let you know what we decide.

Thanks very much for keeping an eye on them!

    Sunday 25th - Water update

Still some water left in the ditch but getting fairly scant.

    Sunday 25th June - All 7 seen

The ponies were happily munching on grass in the area around ///pegs.savings.bloom at 11:20 this morning.  They were very relaxed and came over to say hello and get an ear rub.  I did notice that they all had what appeared to be dry patches on their muzzles today, like maybe they'd been out in the sun a bit too much?   I gently touched the area on one of them, and it didn't feel dry, and the pony wasn't sore or anything.  Perhaps they just needed a big drink of water?  Definitely one to keep an eye on.

The cows were all found in their new favourite spot around ///round.dividing.shipwreck at 11.50.  Cow 234 was lying down chewing her cud in the sun.  Cow 214 was standing under the shade of a tree, relaxing and chewing her cud.  Cow 215 and steer 227 were lying to the side of her, resting.  Steer 227 soon got up and came and said hello, while cow 234 came and stood between cows 214 and 215.  They were all happy and very relaxed today.

There was water available on both sections of the site - the ditch for the cows and the pond for the ponies. However, there wasn’t much water left in the ditch.

The cows and the ponies were good today.

    Saturday

Couldn’t find any of the ponies and only one of the cows (214) at 9am. The one I found was bellowing away but there was no response from his friends and he then followed me around but we could hear or see the others.

    Friday 23rd June - All 7 seen

The cows were all grazing in the long grass in the area around ///transit.circus.inches at 17:30 this evening.  They were all happy and very relaxed and came over to say hello.  They continued munching away in that area before heading into the scrub on the far side of the "path" shortly before 18:00.

The ponies were all found grazing in the area around ///arranges.frail.chefs at 18:15.  They were slowly following the footpath round the side of Brock's Hill, munching away as they went.  They were all calm and relaxed, and all three were very friendly this evening.

There was drinking water available on both sections of the site.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.

All three fine, and water sources ok.

    Three static ponies...

The three ponies were standing at the foot of Brock's Hill (D6) at 1600 today.  They didn't seem keen to do anything and stayed in the same positions throughout my visit, from when I first spotted them from the hill top to when I looked them over and when I returned from checking the water - obviously still feeling the heat.  They all appeared well despite that.  There is water in the pond and the Gelvert is just about flowing.

    Test track cattle fine

I was on TT yesterday checking fencing contractors work - all good; we have replaced c.100 rotten posts with new all around the site.

I checked the cattle while there and they were looking fine and the ditch is ok for water. It's well worth checking regularly if possible please, as it's been so dry but hopefully it got some rain last night!

    Many thanks.

    Sunday 18th June - All 7 seen

The ponies were all grazing in the area around ///ozone.trek.imprints at 10:30 this morning.   Two ponies were grazing together, the third was a bit further across towards the path and was preferring to graze by herself.  She wandered over and said hello and was very friendly.  The ponies were all very relaxed and were happily munching away.

Cow 214 and steer 227 were grazing in the area around ///toxic.forge.tuxedos at 10:55.  The other two, cows 215 and 234 were standing together close by, relaxing and chewing their cud.  The cows were all happy and very relaxed, despite the heat and high humidity.  As I was leaving them at 11:20, they were standing huddled together under the shade of one of the trees at ///round.dividing.shipwreck where they were relaxing and chewing their cud.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.

    Saturday, 17 June 2023

    Saturday

All found at 10.00. The cows were lying down near the cattle grid in the NE corner and looked fine when they got up and the ponies were just off the main path to the test track section also looking fine.

    Friday 16th June - All 7 seen

The ponies were all happily grazing in the area around ///moods.caused.nurses at 17:25 this evening.   They were all very relaxed and were enjoying the fresh grass.  They headed into the thicket for a bit and continued to munch before coming back out into the sunshine.   All three were still busy grazing in this area as I was leaving at 18:40.

Steer 227 was found grazing in the area around ///spooned.spooked.coping at 17:50.  The three girls were all lying down, resting and chewing their cud under the shade of a couple of trees at ///twinkling.asteroid.zones.   They were incredibly relaxed and were enjoying the lovely spot they had found.  Cow 227 slowly made his way over to them, where he continued to graze for a while, before lying down next to them.  All four were looking really well.

There was plenty of drinking water available for the cows.

The cows and the ponies were all good this evening.
