Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Friday 6th June - All 3 seen

At 16:35 this afternoon, steer 75 was happily grazing in the thicket north of the main path near ///ruling.melts.duck. He soon wandered over to say hello and enjoyed a few strokes. He looked happy, relaxed, and in good condition.

By 16:55, steer 178 was grazing a bit further north near ///spindles.flush.quite. He was his usual friendly self and thoroughly enjoyed a long neck and back rub. About ten minutes later, youngster 257 emerged from the thicket to the south and began grazing on the fresh grass. I noticed he had several ticks on his neck and a few larger ones on his left side, near his rear leg. A short while later, steer 75 came and joined the boys, and the three of them continued grazing together. They all appeared happy and healthy.

Just before 17:30, youngster 257 wandered west to take a refreshing drink from the Gelvert Stream. After a short rest, he returned to graze alongside the others. Steer 178 came over for another long back rub before I said my goodbyes around 17:50, leaving them all peacefully grazing.

The cows were all good today.
