Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 4th February - All 8 seen - Drag Hunt passed through the site

The ponies were all found in the far south-west corner of the site at 12:30 this afternoon.  One pony was lying down, three were standing relaxing beside the fence and the other four were standing under the cover of the trees.  They were all very relaxed, with some even resting their eyes.  They were all friendly and said hello as I was checking them.  Tilly was happy to receive an ear rub while standing under the trees.

At around 13:10, a couple of trucks approached the area where the ponies were standing.  They parked nearby.  A lady approached and told me that a Drag Hunt would be passing through shortly.  She removed the top rail from a fence close to where I was standing.  The hounds and first field of horses passed by shortly after.  The ponies were spooked, but all remained in the far corner, against the fence.  I cautiously stayed with them.  After the last horse left the site, all eight ponies ran away at pace through the trees, following the fence line down the south side of Brock's Hill.  I lost sight of where the ponies went, but saw the second field of horses descending the track down Brock's Hill.

I caught up with the ponies who had run to the far north-east corner of the site at 13:50.  They were grazing in the area around ///fall.signified.open.  Although they were on heightened alert, they were happy for me to approach.  They continued to eat and slowly began to relax.  I stayed with them for twenty minutes or so before saying goodbye.  As I was leaving, I checked the fence rails were secure.

The ponies were all good today, despite them receiving some unexpected visitors.
