    Friday 30th January - All 8 seen

At 15:15 this afternoon, the ponies emerged from the southwest corner of the site and met me on the path just beyond the main entrance. I received a warm welcome, with several offering soft nickers as I approached. They were all very friendly, taking turns to come over and say hello and enjoy plenty of strokes and rubs. Although they were dry, their coats were still matted from the recent rain, and it was clear they had been rolling in muddy grass.

After our initial greetings, the ponies moved onto the north-western slope of Brock’s Hill to browse gorse. They soon returned one by one for longer neck and back rubs, offering gentle nuzzles and cuddles in return. All eight were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

Just after 15:45, it started to rain, but the ponies continued to alternate between grazing and returning for more attention. By 16:15, the rain had become heavier and some moved deeper into the gorse for shelter. I said my goodbyes shortly afterwards, leaving them to settle and find cover.

The ponies were all good today.

Noon, Mon 25 Jan, all found, 4 resting and 4 eating gorse on the hill

A slightly chilly but dry day today, came across 4 on the pathway, 1 was sitting and looking sleepy with the other 3 standing still

The other 4 were on the side of the hill eating the gorse and 2 joined the other 4 quite quickly.

They appeared well, albeit quiet today.  I watched them for awhile and the resting pony got up off the ground with ease

    Sunday 25th January - All 8 seen

At 13:50 this afternoon, the ponies were browsing gorse and foraging for acorns on both sides of the path by the racecourse. I received a warm welcome, with several nickering as I approached. The girls took turns coming over to say hello and enjoy plenty of strokes and rubs. Although there had been rain earlier, they were all dry, though their coats remained a little matted. All eight were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

After our initial greetings, the ponies returned to grazing, though I was rarely without company. They thoroughly enjoyed long neck and back rubs, relaxing completely and returning the affection with gentle cuddles and nuzzles. Tilly and Poppy loved having the sides of their necks and chins scratched, stretching their necks right out to make sure no spot was missed. A little later, Tilly came back for more attention, leaning into another long neck rub and relaxing fully, even resting a hind leg and closing her eyes for a while.

The ponies alternated between grazing, resting, and coming back to be fussed over. They were all very friendly and a real joy to spend some quiet time with. Gradually, they drifted east, staying close to the main path while enjoying gorse, holly, and the long, straw-like grass.

By 16:00, all eight had reached the ditch leading onto the grassy island by the Gelvert Stream. I said my goodbyes shortly afterwards, leaving them grazing contentedly. As I walked away, they began jumping across to continue grazing.

The ponies were all good today.

    Friday 23rd January - All 8 seen

At 14:30 this afternoon, the ponies were grazing on the western slope of Brock’s Hill near ///blogs.storms.dolls. Six were out in the open, happily browsing gorse and long, straw‑like grass, while the remaining two were deeper in the gorse bushes. They were all very friendly, coming over to greet me and enjoy plenty of strokes and rubs. The two in the bushes soon emerged when they heard my voice, keen to say hello. All eight were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

After our initial greetings, the ponies returned to grazing, though they took turns coming back over to spend more time with me. Most of the earlier rain had dried from their coats, though they were still a little matted, and gentle rubs helped to loosen and smooth them. The girls thoroughly enjoyed long neck, shoulder, and back rubs, relaxing completely and offering soft, affectionate nuzzles in return. Tilly was especially friendly, delighting in having the sides of her neck and chin scratched before settling into a long back rub while snacking on gorse. The moment we finished, she headed straight off for a roll in the soft mud.

By 15:10, the ponies had crossed the main path to graze among the gorse along the southern side. They continued to return regularly for more attention, clearly enjoying the fuss. Around fifteen minutes later, they began making their way back toward their original spot, gradually working their way up the hill to the higher, flatter ground to continue grazing.

After spending some quiet, relaxing time with the ponies, I said my goodbyes at 16:10, leaving them grazing contentedly as darkness fell.

The fence at the cut-through onto the racecourse continues to hold up well.

The ponies were all good today.

Tuesday 20th January - All 8 ponies seen

I went straight to the SW corner of the site this morning where I had eventually found them on my last two visits (thank you Reverend Bayes). All eight were standing half asleep under the trees, despite it being nearly 1100, and hardly moved while I walked around.  They all appeared well enough if a little dopey.

    Sunday 18th January - All 8 seen

At 15:10 this afternoon, four ponies were grazing along the side of the racecourse, while the other four were on the grassy island by the Gelvert stream. All appeared content and in good condition.

I met Nicky and Jackie on site, who had come to worm the ponies. The first group were very friendly, stepping onto the path to greet us and enjoying plenty of strokes and rubs before being wormed. Afterwards, they set off down the path to join the second group.

The remaining four ponies were equally welcoming, coming over to greet me when I crossed the trench to see them. They enjoyed long neck rubs before I led them across into the larger pasture by the pond to be wormed. A couple were more hesitant about the process, but they remained calm and cooperative, helped by plenty of treats. Once finished, all eight ponies moved further east into the pasture near the test track to continue grazing.

After confirming the ponies were settled, Nicky and Jackie said their goodbyes. I stayed on to spend some more time with the girls, who were calm and relaxed, taking turns to come over for more attention. Several enjoyed long neck and back rubs beside the path, fully relaxing and resting a hind leg.

I said my goodbyes shortly before 16:45, leaving the ponies grazing peacefully in the fading light.

    Wednesday 18th - Fence fix
