Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Friday 2nd January - All 8 seen - the dun pony has a cut on her face

Shortly after 09:30 this morning, the ponies were grazing among the gorse bushes near the main path, just along from the main entrance. They were still wet from the earlier wintry showers, but were very friendly, coming over one by one to say hello and enjoy some attention.

I noticed that the dun pony had a cut on her face. Although it wasn’t bleeding, it was fairly deep, so I cleaned it thoroughly. She otherwise appeared fine and showed no signs of discomfort. I have informed the owner and shared some close-up photos. The rest of the ponies were happy and looking well, and noticeably more relaxed than yesterday, which was lovely to see.

By 10:00, the ponies had moved into the pasture to the northwest near the western fence line, where they grazed and rested in the sunshine. They took turns coming over for longer neck and back rubs, while the others browsed gorse or foraged among the fallen leaves before settling down to rest and dry off in the sun.

I said my goodbyes at 11:30, leaving them all peacefully resting.

Aside from the injury to the dun pony, the ponies were all good today.
