Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Friday 30th May - Pony Update - Betty Boo has had her foal

Nicky kindly let me know that Betty Boo gave birth to a beautiful colt foal this morning. Both mum and foal are doing really well.

I just wanted to share the fantastic news — the foal looks absolutely gorgeous! ❤️

    Friday 30th May - All 3 seen

At 17:15 this afternoon, the boys were lying down, relaxing, and chewing their cud on the eastern slope of Brock's Hill, near ///soaps.grasp.scope. They all looked very comfortable, but steer 178 was happy to be approached, enjoying a head, neck, and chin rub. He thanked me with gentle head rubs and a few licks. All threee were all happy, relaxed, and in good condition.

After a while, steer 178 got up and wandered over for more attention, thoroughly enjoying a back and shoulder rub. He was shedding lots of his winter coat while being stroked. A little later, steer 75 got up and came over to say hello, content to stand close, which helped keep the flies off his face. I noted that both British White steers, 75 and 178, had some hair loss at the base of their dewlaps.

By 18:00, the boys had moved a little further north on the hillside and were happily grazing on the fresh grass growing among the bracken. I said my goodbyes about fifteen minutes later, leaving them all peacefully eating.

The cows were all good today.
