Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 25th May - All 3 seen - some damage to the perimeter fence onto the test track

At 14:05 this afternoon, steers 75 and 257 were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud in the sunshine near ///sings.occur.loaf. Steer 178 was grazing a little further north, but soon came over to say hello and enjoy a long head and neck scratch. Despite the refreshing breeze, there were still plenty of flies about, though the boys didn't seem too bothered. All three looked happy, relaxed, and in good condition.

By 14:30, steer 178 had settled down, lying partially in the shade to relax and chew his cud. He was happy to be approached and receive more strokes. Nearby, steer 257 was dozing, while steer 75 stood up, had a big stretch, and carried on chewing his cud.

While checking the surrounding area, I noticed some damage to the fence near ///guilty.ourselves.stores. In the first section, the bottom strand of barbed wire had been cut. In the next, the bottom strand was also cut, and the second strand had been propped up with a branch. I removed the branch, restoring the second strand to its proper height. Although the bottom strand still needs repairing, it isn’t currently posing any risk to the cattle. Steer 75 was curious what I was doing and wandered over to keep me company.

I said goodbye to the boys around 15:00, leaving them all resting peacefully.

The cows were all good today.
