Steers 75 and 257 were happily grazing in the pasture near the Test Track gate at 16:40 this afternoon. They were enjoying plenty of fresh grass in the warm sunshine, with a pleasant breeze helping to keep most of the flies at bay. After a while, steer 75 wandered over to say hello before resting and chewing his cud. The boys were happy, relaxed, and looking well.
At 17:05, I found steer 178 grazing alone near ///cello.mystery.cure in the northern part of the site. He came straight over to greet me and enjoy a few strokes, and then stayed close by, continuing to graze. Although he seemed happy and in good health, I was a little concerned that he was on his own and heading further from the others, so I encouraged him to follow me back. He was reunited with his friends around 17:25.
By then, steers 75 and 257 were still grazing contentedly but soon made their way to the shade of the trees to rest and chew their cud. Steer 178 preferred to come over and enjoy a long neck and back rub. He quickly started to relax and chew his cud. I said my goodbyes just before 18:00, leaving all three resting peacefully.
The cows were all good today.
