At 15:15 this afternoon, the ponies were grazing contentedly near the pond. They were all very friendly, each taking a turn to come over, say hello, and enjoy plenty of strokes and rubs. After our greetings, they returned to grazing on grass, gorse, and leaves from the trees and bushes. I was never on my own for long, though—one pony always keeping me company, happily soaking up long neck and back scratches and offering gentle nuzzles before wandering back to the others. All six were happy, relaxed, and in good condition.
Rain threatened throughout my visit, with several light showers that didn’t bother the girls in the slightest. They seemed to sense heavier rain on the way, making the most of their grazing time and slowly edging closer to the trees along the racecourse fence line, where they would have good shelter.
I said my goodbyes at 16:10, leaving them peacefully grazing as darkness settled over the site.
The ponies were all good today.
