Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Friday 5th January - All 9 seen - newbie tan pony has sore right eye

Six ponies were standing relaxing by the corral with another lying down resting beside them at 11.35 this morning.  They were all still drying out from yesterday's rain but were looking good.  They appeared so happy and relaxed that I almost didn't want to disturb them by getting close enough to properly check them.  The other two ponies were happily munching on grass and gorse close by.

Sadly, the newbie tan pony has a sore right eye.  She was preferring to keep it closed, but could open it when needed.  Other than that, she was absolutely fine and was happy to stand and receive a long head rub.  Ned at HIWWT and Nicky have been made aware.  Nicky is going to visit at the weekend with some ointment.

All but two of the ponies wandered off to start grazing in the surrounding area from around noon.  They were enjoying lots of gorse and holly leaves.  The ponies were all super friendly today, and it was lovely to spend some quiet time with them.  I left them shortly before 13:00.

The ponies were all good today, even the tan pony with her sore eye.
