Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Friday 4th October - All 5 seen

The ponies were gathered at the corner just before the path along the side of the racecourse at 15:30 this afternoon. The foal came over straight away to greet me, thoroughly enjoying the first of many neck rubs. He was very affectionate, giving me lots of head rubs and nuzzles. Pandora came over next, followed by Tilly. Both were very friendly and enjoyed plenty of strokes and ear rubs. Poppy was grazing at first but soon came over for a back rub followed by a neck rub. Lastly, Megan greeted me with gently nuzzles. All the ponies were happy, relaxed and looking really well.

By 16:05, the ponies had moved through the gorse bushes and had started to graze in the southeast corner of the site. The little one enjoyed a long back rub while grazing. About fifteen minutes later, the ponies crossed the path and began grazing in the pasture west of Brock's Hill. They regularly came over for more strokes. Tilly especially enjoyed a long neck scratch, gently nudging me with her nose when I paused for a rest. Soon after, she relaxed completely while enjoying a back rub, even resting a hind leg.

During the later part of my visit, the foal received another treatment for the fungal infection on his face. He was fine afterwards and got back to grazing. He soon came back over, cautiously at first, but was quickly enjoying another long neck rub. Meanwhile, the girls continued grazing the long grass growing among the bracken. I said my goodbyes just after 17:20, having spent some peaceful time with them.

The ponies were all good today.
