Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 20th October - All 6 seen

Megan and her foal were relaxing at the top of the eastern side of Brock's Hill at 15:25 this afternoon. The little one came straight over for his neck rub, showing lots of affection with cuddles, nuzzles and licks. Megan also greeted me before beginning to graze. Soon after, the other ponies emerged from the thicket where they had been grazing. They were all very friendly, approaching one by one for strokes. Despite being a little damp from the earlier rain, they were drying out quickly.

By 16:00, the ponies had started grazing, first at the top of the hill, then slowly making their way down the northwest slope. They took frequent breaks to come over for more strokes. Pandora was especially friendly and thoroughly enjoyed a long neck rub, giving gentle nuzzles in return. She completely relaxed, even resting a hind leg. The little one enjoyed a back rub while grazing, and roughing up his coat seemed to help it dry faster. When I paused, he playfully nudged me to keep going.

The ponies had reached the track at the foot of the hill by 16:45, continuing to graze. Tilly and Poppy looked especially gorgeous when the sun made a brief appearance. I was thinking of heading off, only for Pandora to wander over for another neck rub, which I was happy to give. She completely relaxed again, even letting me remove some gorse tangled in her mane. A few other ponies came over for more strokes when we were done.

As I was leaving, the ponies had moved to graze along the sides of the main path, near the entrance. The little one came over one last time for a neck and ear rub before I said my final goodbyes at 17:30.

The ponies were all good today.
