Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Monday 8th July - All 7 seen

The ponies were all together near the southwest corner of Brock's Hill, not far from the main entrance, at 17:30 this afternoon. Five were grazing on the slope of the hill, but they soon came down to say hello. Megan was grazing on the other side of the grass track, with the foal lying down nearby. He remained lying down, despite the light rain, knowing that I'd come over and see him. He was happy to sit and be stroked while relaxing. After about fifteen minutes, he got up and enjoyed a proper neck scratch, before nursing from his mum.
The five ponies had ventured out to the side of the main path, where they continued to eat. A few soon took a break and began to relax. After a while, they all wandered back to graze with Megan. A couple of the ponies went for a roll around on the wet ground. All seven continued to graze, slowly making their way back up the side of the hill. They then grazed on top of Brock's Hill, enjoying plenty of grass and gorse. They weren't being put off by the frequent rain showers. The ponies would regularly come over for some ear, neck and back rubs. The newbie pony was very friendly when I got to spend some time with her. The little one was never far from my side and enjoyed lots of attention too.
There were a few minor disagreements between pairs of the ponies at various points, with some kicking, biting and neighing going on. However, they were generally good and had settled down well. Davinia was much more settled and relaxed today. The little one was very cautiously getting to know his new aunties.

I said goodbye to the ponies at 19:15 with them all still grazing on Brock's Hill. They were all happy and relaxed.
The ponies were all good today.
