Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 7th July - Pony Update - now 6 ponies plus one foal on site

Nicky visited the site around 16:15 this afternoon and picked up the gorgeous Palomino pony, Blondie.  She is due to go back out on the New Forest this evening.  She will be greatly missed, and was a pleasure to spend time with over the last couple of months.

Nicky also brought four additional ponies to join the group.  Three are returnees to Long Valley, plus one newbie.  As such, there are now six ponies plus the foal on site.

The weather during the first part of my visit was nothing compared to the second part, with us getting sunshine, heavy rain, wind, thunder and hail in a short period of time.  The ponies had just got off the trailer, and were just finding their feet, when they got absolutely soaked, sending them all off running.

The four new arrivals were found grazing in the pasture by the Test Track gate at 17:15.  They were all relaxed and looking well.  They were all very friendly and came over to say hello.  It was great to see the girls again and meet the newbie.

The other two ponies and the foal were back grazing on the east side of Brock's Hill at 17:35.  The girls were on heightened alert.  After a short while, all three went on a clockwise loop of the hill, grazing as they went.  They got back to where they started at 18:00.  I said my goodbyes soon after.  The little one was absolutely fine, but wasn't getting too far from his mum.

Pandora seemed most unsettled by the changes today, and was frequently neighing and trotting off to check her surroundings.  She will settle, but we should keep an eye on her over the next few days.  Hopefully, the ponies will come together quickly and bond.
