If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

Saturday 11th January - Pony Update - All 7 seen

I met Nicky at the site at 13:20 this afternoon as she brought two additional ponies to join the group. This brings the total to seven New Forest ponies on the Long Valley reserve.

When we first arrived, the ponies were grazing in the sunshine in the pasture near ///hero.graceful.grips. They quickly came over to the main path to greet us. They were all very friendly and eager to receive some strokes. Their attention soon shifted to the trailer as they curiously tried to discover who was inside.

Once the two newcomers were released from the trailer, all seven ponies set off into a lively canter towards Brock's Hill, turning right to follow the eastern side of the hill. We caught up with them later in the pasture near ///labels.zones.tripods, where they were grazing together. The group was calm, relaxed, and content. Nicky took the opportunity to worm a few of the ponies and trim their manes and tails, while I assisted.

The ponies alternated between grazing on the heather, dozing in the sunshine, and coming over for strokes and rubs. Tilly was especially affectionate, enjoying plenty of strokes and cuddles as she basked in the sunshine. The two newcomers stayed close to each other, but remained near to the group. They settled in quickly and will no doubt be fully welcomed into the herd soon.

We said our goodbyes shortly before 15:00, leaving all the ponies happily grazing in the pasture.

The ponies were all good today.
