Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Friday 3rd January - All 5 seen

The ponies were happily grazing in the pasture southeast of Brock's Hill at 13:00 this afternoon. One by one, they wandered over to greet me, enjoying strokes and offering affectionate nuzzles and head rubs, as usual.

After our initial greetings, the ponies alternated between grazing, resting, soaking up the warm sunshine, and enjoying lots of strokes and rubs. After a while, they began to move towards the eastern side of Brock's Hill, where Tilly had a delightful roll around in the soft, muddy ground.

The ponies continued grazing in the eastern pasture, enjoying a variety of gorse, heather, and long grass. They gladly accepted back rubs while nibbling in the gorse bushes. Megan chose to relax in the sunshine, enjoying gentle nose and neck strokes. By 14:30, I say my goodbyes, leaving the ponies happily grazing.

The ponies had ample access to drinking water. The Gelvert Stream was flowing, but the pond had a thin layer of ice, which I broke for them. I also cleared ice from several large puddles along the eastern side of the hill. Pandora immediately came over to drink from one, then stayed for a long neck rub.

The ponies were all good today.
