Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Friday 28th June - All 4 seen

The girls were happily grazing at the side of the pond at 16:30 this afternoon.  They were enjoying an assortment of grasses.  The foal was lying down, hidden by a bush.  He raised his head when he saw me and was happy to lie and be stroked for a good while.  When I wandered off to see Megan, he started to have a roll around. .  I soon returned and continued to stroke him when he rested his eyes.

The ponies continued to graze in the area around the pond.  The foal got up just before 17:00 and went and joined the girls.  He would regularly come back over for some more attention.  The little one was quite boisterous for a spell, with some biting, jumping and running around in circles around me.  He was also running over and biting the other ponies too, and ended up with his legs up on his mum's back.  He got a good telling off from me for the biting.  Thankfully, he calmed down and went back to giving lovely head rubs while being stroked.  The foal still has a number of bald patches and the hair on the left side of his face, under his eye, appears to be getting thinner.

The ponies all continued to graze, slowly moving west.  Blondie stopped for a while and was happy to stand and receive an ear rub followed by a long back rub.  She was happy and very relaxed.  I finally said goodbye to the ponies at 18:00, with them having crossed over the stream into the neighbouring pasture.

The ponies were all good today.
