Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 19th June - All 4 seen

The ponies were all grazing in the sunshine on the east slope of Brock's Hill at 18:35 this evening. The foal came running over to say hello as soon as I arrived. He was very friendly and was happy to stand for nearly twenty minutes receiving lots of ear, neck and back rubs. He was giving me loads of head rubs and nuzzles as he was stroked. The little one would occasionally give the tongue of my boot a good nibble, but was otherwise very well-behaved.
By 19:00, the girls were nearing the top of Brock's Hill where they continued to graze, enjoying lots of fresh grass. The little one had a fun couple of minutes, running in circles around me while doing little hops, skips, and jumps before running up the hill to rejoin his mum. After nursing from Megan, all four ponies continued grazing atop the hill. The foal was eating far more grass than he had previously, and was actively grazing with the other ponies. After a bit, he came over again and soon lay down, happy to continue to be stroked. The girls were all happy, relaxed and looking well when they were checked. Blondie came over to say hello and received her usual ear rub.
The little one didn't want me to leave tonight. Every time I'd say goodbye, he'd stand in my path and want more strokes. I eventually dragged myself away, saying cheerio to the ponies just after 19:45. The ponies were all good today.
