Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Friday 23rd August - All 3 seen

The ponies were all happily grazing in the sunshine in the area around ///helped.safari.pets at 16:55 this afternoon.  There were a lot of flies around, but they weren't annoying the ponies too much.  The foal quickly came over to say hello, making gentle nickering sounds as he approached, and received his first neck rub.  He was super friendly, giving me lots of cuddles and nuzzles.  The girls were very friendly too and soon came over to say hello.  The ponies all had lots of sticky burs in their manes.  The little one was happy for me to remove them as he ate some grass.  He rarely left my side this afternoon and was looking absolutely gorgeous.

The ponies continued to graze, before crossing over the Gelvert stream at around 17:25.  The girls both took a drink from the stream before jumping over.  The foal got in the stream and munched on some plants growing through the surface.  The ponies slowly made their way to the area by the side of the pond.  There is still plenty of water in the pond, but the ponies seem to prefer drinking from the stream.

Shortly after they got to the area by the pond, the little one nursed from his mum before coming back over to see me.  He then stood right in front of me for the next twenty minutes, getting rubbed and stroked.  He was very relaxed, resting a rear leg, bowing his head and closing his eyes.  At one point, while I was kneeling in front of him stroking the side of his neck, he rested his head on my shoulder.

By 18:00, he must have been getting hungry and wandered off and started grazing after giving me a lovely head rub.  I took this as my cue to leave after saying cheerio to all three.

The ponies were all good today.
