Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 5th May - All 5 ponies plus one foal seen

The five ponies were all grazing on the northeast slope of Brock's Hill at 13:30 this afternoon.  The foal was fast asleep close to where Megan was eating.  The ponies were all happy, relaxed and looking well.  They were enjoying lots of grass and heather.  There were fewer flies today than there were yesterday.

The group of four ponies continued to graze, initially along the northern slope of the hill, before ending up in the area around ///sailor.wolf.beakers at 14:20.  They were all their usual friendly selves and came and said hello, with a couple happy to receive ear rubs.  I went back along to check on the foal at 14:10, and while he had moved from where I first saw him, he was still sleeping.

However, just before 14:25, the little one made an appearance near to where the other four ponies were grazing. After nursing from his mum, he ran down the hill to say hello.  Like yesterday, I knelt down and he let me stroke him all over. We were both having a lot of fun, and he was nibbling at me while I was gently stroking him.  After a bit, he'd run off to see his mum, only to return soon after. He did this three more times, before he took a break and nursed again. He was full of beans today after his long sleep. I said goodbye to the ponies just before 14:55.

The ponies were all good today.
