Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 19th May - All 4 seen - motorbikes and quad bike reported to MOD Operations Room + issue with padlock

The ponies were all found near the path on the south side of Brock's Hill at 13:15 this afternoon.  Two of the ponies were resting in the glorious sunshine.  The palomino pony was very friendly again today and was happy to be stroked for a while.  Megan was happily eating fresh grass, with the foal sleeping at her feet.  The little one soon woke up and came over to say hello.  He was happy to stand in the warm sunshine and be stroked.

By 13:50, the ponies had crossed over the path and began to graze in the pasture opposite.  The little one was standing with me, enjoying a long neck rub.  Not long after, some motorbike noise was heard approaching at speed.  I managed to get the two motorbikes and the quad bike to slow down, but the ponies had already scarpered, running to the area around ///helped.safari.pets.  The bikes continued down to the gate into the Test Track section.  Afterwards, the ponies were on heightened alert, but soon calmed down.  After a bit, they crossed over the path and started to graze in the area around ///cookers.cubic.edge.  They were all good.

Wondering where the motorbikes had gone, I ventured down to find the vehicle gate unlocked.  I was able to fit the padlock, but it was not locking securely.  If you gave it a good tug, it would open.  I reported the motorbikes being on-site and the padlock issue to the MOD Operations Room.  They were grateful for the call and were going to arrange for someone to come and have a look.

I returned to the ponies, who were all grazing on the east side of Brock's Hill at 14:20.  The little one wanted more rubs, and I was happy to oblige.  By 14:35, he went and lay down and looked like he was going to go to sleep.  I took that as my cue to leave and began to say my goodbyes, only for him to get up and say cheerio in person.

The ponies were all good today.
