Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Friday 3rd May - Pony Update - All 5 ponies plus one foal seen

Nicky visited the site earlier this afternoon to check on the foal.  He received a clean bill of health.  Nicky also removed Victoria, who is returning home to prepare for the birth of her own foal, and also Tilly.  It was very surreal to visit the site and not have Tilly come over to say hello and receive her ear rub.  There are now five ponies and the foal on Long Valley.

The ponies were all found on the northern side of Brock's Hill at 16:20 this afternoon.  The older ponies were all happily munching on fresh grass.  They slowly made their way west, stopping to spend a good time grazing on the slope around ///slung.moved.scream.  By 17:00, they had crossed over the main path and started to graze in the southwest corner.  They waited for Megan and her foal to join them, before they all headed off down the path towards the racecourse.  They grazed on the grass just round the corner for a good while before I said my goodbyes, just after 17:30.

Megan and her foal continue to do great.  The little one was super friendly today, coming straight over to see me as soon as I arrived.  I got lots of sniffs before receiving a couple of licks to the back of my hand.  He also let me stroke him for a good while, with mum watching on, close by.  The foal was nursing a lot more frequently today, every 10 to 15 minutes.  He also lay down and rested a few times, while Megan was busy eating.

The ponies were all good today.
